An Orientation Program for First-Year Students in the School of Nursing Was Held

The First-Year Student Orientation Program was organized by the Orientation and Development Committee of the Mersin University School of Nursing to support the adaptation of our new first-year students to university and school life. The program began with an opening speech by Prof. Dr. Duygu Vefikuluçay Yılmaz, Dean of the Faculty of Nursing. As part of the program, the history of Mersin University and the Faculty of Nursing, the faculty administration, the main departments, and the academic and administrative staff, as well as student representatives, were introduced.
During the orientation program, students were provided with information on the Student Information System, the academic calendar, course registration, relevant regulations, and the advising system—all of which they will need throughout their academic careers. Additionally, attendance requirements, processes related to clinical and field placements, and the locations of these placements were discussed. In addition, TÜBİTAK 2209-A student projects, Erasmus and other exchange programs, the Career Center, and other student support services offered by the university were introduced.
The program, prepared by the Adaptation and Development Commission, aimed to provide students with information not only about academic processes but also about the faculty’s opportunities for social, scientific, and professional development. As part of the program, commission members presented information on the Social Transcript, Psychosocial Counseling, and Peer Mentoring processes, and student organizations were also introduced. The program concluded with well-wishes for our students to have a healthy, peaceful, productive, and enriching academic life.
